Giorgio Armani’s Spring Summer season 2024 Assortment is a Symphony of Color

Inspired by vibrations of form and colour, Giorgio Armani’s Spring Summer 2024 collection shows he’s still the undisputed master of refined and fluid evening wear.

What does the Giorgio Armani woman want from her summer wardrobe, which might take her from the villas of Pantelleria, balmy evenings aboard a yacht in Portofino, or perhaps bar hopping between the rooftops of Milan? Armani’s answer this season is freedom.

Since he founded his namesake brand in 1975, Armani’s biggest contribution to fashion was to release women of restricting fabrics in favour of luxe soft deconstructed evening wear. Such notions of movement and fluidity take on new heights for spring/summer 2024.

Presented on the last day of Milan Fashion Week in September, the show, titled “Vibes”, was attended by stars such as Chinese model Sui He, actress Yao Chen and longstanding house ambassador Cate Blanchett.

“Everything vibrates: colours, sensations and feelings. This season, vibrations become visible,” explained the brand in a press release. Such vibrations were expressed through fluid fabrics and an oscillating colour palette, with hues seamlessly transitioning throughout the collection, akin to the notes of an ascending scale. The absence of heels was especially noticeable; models instead wore soft lace-up ankle boots in satin and velvet or delicate ballet pumps that prioritised comfort.

The opening looks featured 1920s-style bronze jackets and shirts worn over grey-blue lightweight and soft trousers, cinched at the waist by gold belts. Introducing the collection’s first colour shift was an azure flowing silk dress complete with an undulating waistband.

Next, hues of aquatic greens and blues moved the show forward, taking us under the sea. Standouts were a teal trench coat made of strips of undulating satin, accessorised with a cobalt blue handbag; a strapless green and blue frothy chiffon top trailed elegantly down the model’s left side.

Colours moved into darker tones as evening trousers in midnight blues were paired with a loose shirt with a pattern that mimicked light reflecting on the surface of water or long-sleeved tops adorned with shimmering paillettes in misty aquatic hues.

Pearlescent pantaloons paired with jackets with sparkling beadwork marked the shift into evening wear. Embellished ankle-length tops hung nonchalantly over trousers, one in sheer fabric with a plunging neckline and flowing beadwork that swung with the model as she walked down the catwalk.

Looks in dusky pinks signalled the finale, which included crystal-embellished zip-up collarless jackets and delicate trousers with built-in sheer skirts with crystals.
