Hennessey’s Anniversary-Edition Ford Mustang Makes 850 HP
Hennessey Performance sure knows how to throw itself a birthday party.
The Texas tuner has just unveiled an anniversary edition of the “Super Venom,” its most potent version of the seventh-generation Ford Mustang. Thanks to a lengthy list of performance upgrades, the limited-edition muscle car is even more powerful and exclusive than Ford’s own boundary-pushing GTD.
In a press release announcing the car’s launch, Hennssey says the new ‘Stang is its way of celebrating “35 years of making fast cars faster.” It’s hard to disagree once you take a look at what they’ve done to the iconic muscle car. The shop has taken Ford’s fourth-gen 5.0-liter Coyote V-8, topped it with a giant supercharger, and installed new high-flow air induction and engine management systems. These changes, which were first unveiled last year, boost the car’s output to a truly ridiculous 850 horses. Ford’s range-topping GTD, by comparison, makes 815 hp, while the output of the GT500-replacing Dark Horse SC is expected to come in around 700 hp. The shop previously said the vehicle could rocket from zero to in 3.2 seconds and run the standing quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds.

Hennessey didn’t stop there, of course. The vehicle wears a carbon-fiber “VenomAero” body kit that includes a new front splitter, vented hood, side skirts, and a giant fixed rear wing. The anniversary edition also includes a special “91” hood graphic commemorating the year the shop was founded and a “35” badge on the front fender. The model will also be limited to just—you guessed it—35 examples.
“What started as a love for racing and going fast has turned into something far bigger than I ever imagined, but the fun of building extreme vehicles is still what drives us every day,” founder John Hennessey said in a statement.

Hennessey has yet to announce pricing for the 35th anniversary Super Venom, but it figures to be steep. The most expensive version of the base Super Venom, which is based on the standard Dark Horse, starts at $163,950. The exclusive version will likely be higher, but it should still cost less than the GTD, which starts at around $320,000.
