Hong Kong Bids Farewell to Sevva Following 16-Yr Run

After wining and dining international celebrities, politicians, royalty and, of course, Hong Kong’s social elite for 16 years, Central’s chic dining destination Sevva is officially closing its doors this year. And what would the closure of one of the city’s most illustrious establishments be without an epic send-off?

Located atop Landmark Prince’s Building, Sevva announced it would conclude its operations when its lease expires in May 2024. This past weekend, the restaurant hosted a dazzling soirée to celebrate its impact on the local dining scene and express gratitude to its loyal guests, supporters and fans.

The bash was attended by esteemed social figures, prominent members of Hong Kong’s society, and influential tastemakers, including Alan Chan, Allan Zeman, Cecilia Wang Shi Shi and Donnie Yen, Goodwin Gaw and Yama Gaw, Kamsen Lau, Kim Robinson, Mira Yeh, Sandra Ng, Virginia Yung, Vivienne Tam, Winnie Yu Tsang, and Yvette Ho, to name a few.

Curated by Sevva’s creative visionary herself, Bonnae Gokson, the celebration allowed guests to reminisce and savour cherished memories while enjoying one last night out.

Gokson addressed the guests, “Throughout the 16 years of Sevva’s existence, we have encountered numerous challenges and moments of joy. I would like to extend my gratitude to all our customers, loyal staff, and friends who have believed in me and supported us, enabling Sevva to become a landmark social and entertainment destination in Hong Kong, and for international guests. While bidding farewell is bittersweet, we take pride in reflecting on past accomplishments and remaining open to new creative directions. Sevva will forever reside in our memories. Thank you once again for your unwavering support and love.”

So what’s next for Bonnae Gokson? A long-deserved holiday would be a good start, but Gokson says she values time with her loved ones more these days. “Having been everywhere is nice and fine, but now I want to be with my friends,” she says. “I want to be with the people I care most about and maybe enjoy certain places together.”

Whatever Gokson decides to do next, it certainly won’t be retiring. Instead of taking some time off, she wants to keep working full steam. “I’d go bonkers without work. I seriously think I would,” she admits.

In the meantime, Sevva is open for business until end May 2024, so be sure to grab a meal and some last rounds before the end of an era is officially over.
