Koenigsegg Unveils Sedair’s Spear, Its Most Extreme Hypercar Yet

Leave it to Koenigsegg to turn things up even higher than 11.
The Swedish marque has just unveiled its latest boundary-pushing hypercar, Sadair’s Spear. The new model is the company’s most extreme creation yet—but remains street-legal.
The vehicle is named after the horse that Christian Koenigsegg’s father Jesko rode in his final race as a gentleman jockey. Despite this, the car is the latest addition to the Jesko line (which, as you may have guessed, is also named for Christian’s father).

Sadair’s Spear can be viewed as a high-performance version of the track-focused Jesko Attack. It is powered by the same 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine connected to a nine-speed Lightspeed gearbox. A new engine calibration and air intakes, along with an improved cooling system, have allowed the company to wring more power out of the mill than ever before. It now produces 1,282 hp on regular unleaded gas and 1,602 hp on E85 fuel, increases of 20 hp and 25 hp over the Jesko Attack, respectively.
But this is Koenigsegg we’re talking about, so the upgrades aren’t limited to the powertrain. The front fascia has larger canards and louvres, the rear has been elongated, and there’s a new double-blade active rear wing, changes that combine to improve aerodynamic efficiency and produce more downforce. The company also installed lighter interior and mechanical parts to shave 77 pounds of the car’s curb weight, which now stands at a shockingly low 2,910 pounds. The vehicle also gets a bespoke suspension setup and has been outfitted with wider, track-oriented tires in an attempt to improve handling and grip.

The purpose of developing Sadair’s Spear was to build an even quicker Jesko. We’ll have to wait for the full performance numbers, but the early results sound promising. During testing at the Gotland Ring in Storgus, Sweden, the new hypercar beat its predecessor’s lap record by 1.1 seconds.
It’s hard not to be intrigued by a car like Sadair’s Spear. Unfortunately, you’re in for a long wait since the entire production run of 30 cars is already spoken for. That means you’ll have to wait for an example to make its way to auction. The car is said to cost around $5 million. Don’t be surprised if it commands even more than that when it does hit the open market.
