The tequila world is rife with celebrity brands—perhaps too many, by some accounts. One of the most prominent is Cincoro, which counts Michael Jordan as one of its most famous owners and has released a wide range of expressions over the years. The latest is the new Añejo Reserva, which is a blend of añejo and extra-añejo tequila that will only be around as long as supplies last.

Cincoro was founded in 2019 by Jordan and a few partners, including NBA team owners Jeanie Buss and Wes Edens (although Buss’s time as the owner of the Lakers may be about to end). It’s also backed by a few other star athletes, like Serena Williams and Derek Jeter. This is truly a luxury brand, with the blanco expression starting at $70 per bottle and prices soaring as age statements increase to $1,700 for the extra añejo. While Cincoro does not claim to be additive-free, something that is harder to do now anyway because of the rules set forth by the CRT (tequila’s governing board), some suspect that the brand may use them due to the relatively sweet flavor profile of the tequila. The use of additives is legally allowed up to 1 percent of volume without having to be disclosed, a practice that many popular brands engage in, so it’s up to individual consumers to taste and decide for themselves whether they like it or not. And Cincoro has proven to be a popular brand, selling more than 1.5 million bottles since its launch.

Last year, Cincoro faced a class action lawsuit claiming that the tequila in its bottles was not made from 100 percent agave as advertised, similar to lawsuits filed against a few other brands. The brand denied these claims at the time, and the case was dismissed sua sponte by a judge on September 29, 2025, although it appears that the plaintiff has filed several motions to extend the time to file an amended complaint.

The new Añejo Reserva was made from Blue Weber agave grown in the highlands and lowlands regions of Jalisco, one of the Mexican states where tequila can be produced. It was aged for 28 months in Tennessee whiskey barrels (the source is not disclosed, but it could be Jack Daniel’s or Dickel), before being blended with the aforementioned extra añejo and bottled at 80 proof. Like a whiskey’s age statement, tequila’s classification must indicate the youngest liquid in the bottle, so this is an añejo and not an extra-añejo expression.

“Añejo Reserva brings a new dimension to the Cincoro portfolio, with a complex flavor profile developed through our extended aging and blending process,” said cofounder Emilia Fazzalari in a statement. “Michael Jordan and I personally taste every batch before bottling to ensure each expression meets the high standards of quality and craftsmanship we’ve set for Cincoro. We’re excited to introduce Añejo Reserva and share its exquisite taste with tequila enthusiasts.”

This new expression is priced at $150 per bottle, and comes in a white and gold gift box. You can find it now at retailers around the country as well as at websites like Total Wine.
