Korean heartthrob, the sassy ‘Vincenzo’ Song Joong-ki is back to charm audiences once again in the upcoming Netflix movie, My Name Is Loh Kiwan.

Helmed by A Brand New Journey fame director Kim Hee-Jin, My Name Is Loh Kiwan is a family drama that focuses on a Korean man’s journey of survival in a foreign land.

One of the highly anticipated Korean movies releasing in 2024, the Song Joong-ki starrer is based on author Cho Hae-jin’s novel I Met Loh Kiwan — the 2013 winner of the Shin Dong-yup Prize for Literature in South Korea.

Who stars in My Name Is Loh Kiwan?

The Netflix original features acclaimed Korean actors Song Joong-ki and Choi Sung-eun, as the main protagonists. While the former is famous for hit K-dramas like Vincenzo (2021) and Descendants of the Sun (2016), Choi is known for her impressive performances in movies such as Gentleman (2022) and Start-Up (2019).

What is the plot of the Song Joong-ki movie?

The story of the Netflix movie follows North Korean defector Loh Kiwan’s (played by Song Joong-ki) desperate will to survive in the foreign country Belgium, along with his mother. He struggles to make a home in the unfamiliar world by receiving refugee status from the Belgium government. Helping him in the process is his lover, a former Korean, Mari (played by Choi Sung-eun).
