Pop Tradition Icon Pamela Anderson Acquires Vegan And Cruelty-Free Skincare Model Sonsie

At 56, pop culture icon Pamela Anderson has acquired vegan and cruelty-free brand Sonsie, marking her entrance into the skincare space. Anderson first made waves on television when she appeared in the hit series Baywatch, where she portrayed the sultry and sexy bombshell C.J. Parker. Her decades-long career has cemented her place as one of the most recognisable faces and personalities of the ’90s. Instantly recognisable for her glamorous makeup looks and glittering outfits, Anderson has long served as a symbol of all things provocative and steamy. But there is so much more to her than meets the eye.

On September 27, 2023, Pamela Anderson reshaped the world of fashion by showing up to the Parisian show of the Olsen twins’ stealth wealth fashion brand The Row, completely bare faced and rocking it. The 56-year-old actress has survived much in life: From childhood abuse and paparazzo to the ramifications of a leaked sex tape, Anderson’s brushes with the unsavoury side of celebrity has made news time and time again.

A 16-year battle with Hepatitis C left the star vulnerable to cancer. However, it wasn’t until she lost her make-up artist Alexis Vogel to breast cancer in 2019 that she would make the decision to set aside the seductive style of makeup that the world has grown accustomed to seeing on her.

Pamela Anderson goes ‘no makeup’, advocates for bare faced beauty

A long-time activist for causes near and dear to her, Pamela Anderson has stood against pornography and sexual violence, speaking up for the marginalised communities of those affected by AIDS and HIV. As the head of The Pamela Anderson Foundation, the Canadian-born actress, model, and author oversees support for organisations that protect human, animal, and environmental rights.

She is an avid campaigner against animal cruelty, championing animal rights and welfare; in recent years, she has departed from her popularised ’90s persona, returning to a more natural way of life as showcased by her style and lifestyle choices.

Speaking to W Magazine in 2016, Anderson shared that she now enjoys the process of aging, even alluding to the regret of getting breast implants ‘in the name of beauty’. Her legendary shift from beautiful bombshell to beautifully natural has been a long time coming, culminating in her bare-faced cover profile feature in Women’s Wear Daily, and then again at Paris Fashion Week 2023. There, the actress spoke on the art of self-acceptance and the notion of natural beauty.

A realist at heart, Anderson acknowledged that accepting your own imperfections can be difficult at first, sharing in a TikTok interview, “Sometimes it’s challenging and you just have to understand that you are good enough and that you are beautiful.” She went on to add, “Chasing youth is just futile.”

Emboldened by the success of her ‘no makeup’ escapades at Paris Fashion Week, Pamela Anderson brought the same energy to the Fashion Awards in London, marking the end of 2023. Earlier this month, Anderson featured prominently in a Proenza Schouler advertisement campaign, where she absolutely slayed in all her bare-faced beauty.

Pamela Anderson acquires Sonsie Skin, entering skincare space

This past week, Pamela Anderson once again shook things up in the beauty space by acquiring Sonsie, a vegan and cruelty-free skincare brand founded with German-born model and content creator Marie von Behrens-Felipe and her husband, Sonsie CEO Roberto A. Felipe. Now named brand co-founder and owner, Anderson has firmly cemented her next steps in her advocacy for bare-faced beauty, prioritising skincare over makeup while simultaneously standing against animal cruelty.

Anderson’s partnership with Sonsie could not have been any more fortuitous – or right. The freshest face in skincare first met the Felipes through her son. In a stunning show of serendipity, Anderson and von Behrens-Felipe would make a connection through Paula Bruss, who, as fate would have it, is Dylan Jagger Lee’s girlfriend – and Dylan Jagger Lee just happens to be Anderson’s son.

In search of the perfect skincare routine to support modern needs, Sonsie employs simple and straightforward formulas. The brand champions inner wellbeing and complements it with simplified ingredient lists that eschew sulfates, phthalates, parabens, and silicone. As expressed on the Sonsie official website: “We remove the noise, confusion, and harmful expectations — they weren’t serving you or your skin.”

Anderson, who has been using Sonsie products for six months, has also appeared in Sonsie’s marketing and promotional campaign materials, showing off glowing, luminous skin and further cementing her dedication to the cause. Sonsie’s products are manufactured in the United States in adherence to stringent European ingredient standards – apropos, considering the brand’s commitment to promoting a healthy appearance on the inside, as well as on the outside.

While the brand currently only has three products, including a multipurpose moisture mask with hyaluronic acid, a super serum with niacinamide, and a lip balm, Anderson has teased at a fuller range to come.
