Royal Huisman Just Unveiled the World’s Largest Sloop
Royal Huisman is on the cusp of making marine history.
The Dutch shipyard unveiled what is set to be a record-breaking sailer during the Monaco Yacht Show. The new 280-footer, currently known as Project 410, will become the world’s largest sloop upon launch. It will also rank among the 10 biggest sailing yachts on the water.
Project 410 has been kept tightly under wraps up until this point, with Royal Huisman previously sharing only a little information about design and construction. Behind the scenes, the yard has been working away furiously. The turning of the super-sized aluminum hull took place in summer 2024, with the build coming to fruition over the subsequent two years.
The yacht will be transported from Royal Huisman’s newbuild facility in Vollenhove to the shipyard’s deepwater location near Amsterdam in November, where she will be launched before the stepping of her towering Rondal carbon mast and matching boom.
The turning of the aluminum hull took place in summer 2024.

A large footprint isn’t the only thing Project 410 offers, of course. The sloop is designed to be elegant, powerful, and comfortable on the seas, with an ability to set sail in a matter of minutes.
“Project 410 represents an extraordinary combination of vision, scale, and innovation,” Royal Huisman CEO Peter Naeyé said in a statement. “The ambition was never simply to build the world’s largest sloop, but to create a stunning sailing yacht that remains true to the pleasure and performance of sailing.”
Frers Design developed a hull that provided enough volume for two decks around a single mast and a small deckhouse.
“Pure deck lines form a single arrow shape from bow to stern, incorporating the glass pilothouse, while the raked mast and uniquely engineered boom reinforce the yacht’s dynamic profile,” adds Mani Frers of Frers Design.
As for the rig, the carbon mast, boom, and integrated sailing system were created by Rondal (Royal Huisman’s sister company). The yacht is equipped with a large battery and an energy regeneration system, enabling silent, emissions-free operation.
Designed by Wetzels Brown, the interior is described as “a private, relaxed retreat.” Extra-large hull windows, skylights, and soaring ceilings create a light, airy feel throughout. The main living areas are positioned within the hull on one level beneath a refined deckhouse. A double-height main entrance leads toward the salon and the forward owner’s suite. At the opposite end, the aft veranda flows onto the beach club.
“For us, the interior is about creating an environment where people can relax, feel close to the sea, and create memories,” explains Gillian Brown of Wetzels Brown.
Project 410 is due to be delivered to her owner sometime in 2026.
