Sartorial MVPs of The Ambani Celebrations Have been The Homegrown Labels And Museum Items

It’s Monday morning and we are still reeling from the madness that prevailed at the Ambani pre-wedding celebrations. Mark Zuckerberg, Rihanna, Bill Gates and the whole Bollywood film fraternity in attendance, the wedding party thrown by Asia’s richest man in Jamnagar was a spectacle to behold. Guests dazzled in extraordinarily styled outfits, from remarkable ball gowns to regal saris, it was one stunning display of style. In this mix of opulence, we found a small window for cool, casual looks that were a unique mix of museum pieces and homegrown labels.

The causal and cool outfits we spotted at the Ambani pre-wedding celebrations:

Radhika Merchant in Atelier Versace

The Ambani pre-wedding celebrations are a prime example of how money can buy you accessibility. For the opening night, we saw Radhika Merchant in an Atelier Versace bespoke creation that holds a display spot at the Kensington Museum. In sync with the night’s theme, “An Evening in Everland”, the bride opted to wear this haute couture masterpiece that was created for Blake Lively for the 2022 MET Gala, which she was co-chairing. The gown’s design was inspired by the New York skyline with the embellishments representing the Empire State Building and the bow elements representing the Grand Central Station.

Isha Ambani in Alexander McQueen and Kanika Goyal

For the day soiree themed, ‘A Walk to the Wild Side’, Isha Ambani established the true meaning of glamping and the outfit one would wear on such an ocassion. In an Alexander McQueen embellished bustier with cargo pants from Indian designer, Kanika Goyal. It’s a couture and casual pairing that one couldn’t have imagined but looks effortlessly cool on the heiress.

Radhika Merchant in Ashish

The fun part of the Ambani pre-wedding celebrations is just that the family opted for expensive, couture pieces but also used their connections to find truly unique outfits. Case in point, Radhika Merchant’s Holi Fringed Halterneck Georgette Mini Dress by Ashish that was last seen displayed at the William Morris Gallery as part of his retrospective. The fringe and bead combination is such a fun look for the young bride-to-be and we love how she casually wore this museum piece casually for her celebrations.

Natasha Poonawalla in Bloni and Manish Malhotra

In this marriage between couture and cool, we find ourselves gravitating towards this futuristic look put together by Natasha Poonawalla. The unusual pairing of a silver sculptural piece from Bloni (Akshat Bansal’s gender agnosticism and future thinking label) with a shimmery skirt from Manish Malhotra was a lesson in excessive and experimental style.

Mark Zuckerberg (plus Orry) in Rahul Mishra

Making a mark in his own way, Mark Zuckerberg wore a hand-embroidered ‘Sunderbans’ Tigress shirt from Rahul Mishra Couture at Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding ceremony in Jamnagar. Another notable Rahul Mishra menswear spotting was Orhan Awatramani (or simply, Orry) in a Rahul Mishra suit with a gigantic dragonfly.

The next progression to this fabulous line-up is the curation of homegrown labels we loved spotting at the Ambani pre-wedding celebrations. Notable mentions in this include Sonam Kapoor, and Shahid Kapoor in a casual Anamika Khanna pret looks. While soon-to-be parents Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh opted for Sabyasachi for their casual brunch looks. We spotted Alia Bhatt wearing Sil-Sila’s Radiant Rani co-ord set, Mira Rajput in an ANI clothing denim dress and the groom Anant Ambani in Shivan Narresh.
