One of the hottest stars of 2024, English actor Nicholas Galitzine has garnered phenomenal success with The Idea of You starring Anne Hathaway. However, a look back at his career reveals he has been part of some of the best movies made in recent years.

Born Nicholas Dimitri Constantine Galitzine in Hammersmith, London, England, he began his career with the film The Beat Beneath My Feet in 2014. He was only around 19 years old at the time. His good looks and the film’s performance instantly made him a noticeable figure.

Galitzine landed a TV role in the American crime drama Legends the following year but continued to work more for the big screen.

Over the years, he has built an enviable reputation for picking stories that are inspirational, light-hearted, joyous and refreshingly beautiful in terms of depictions of the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, Galitzine is particularly a favourite for his portrayal of queer characters, both real and fictional, on the screen.

Thus, while The Idea of You has won over critics and guests at the 2024 South by Southwest (SXSW), all eyes are on his role as George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham in the 2024 TV series Mary & George. George was a real-life statesman who was the most prominent lover of King James I in the 17th century.

One of Nicholas Galitzine’s best movies, Red, White & Royal Blue (2023) is based on the New York Times bestselling 2019 novel of the same name by Casey McQuiston. It has been widely praised by critics and fans alike. He plays a British prince in love with the son of the US President, creating a heartily pleasing rom-com that several reviewers have agreed is amusing without resorting to stereotypical depictions.

Even Galitzine acknowledged the appreciation that the film received.

“I think the most important part was the resonance it had with people. The most gratifying thing is having conversations with people while I’m out walking around. I’m still coming to terms with being so perceivable out in the world, but that is lovely,” he told The Hollywood Reporter about the film’s success.

Galitzine is also quite a good singer. He has lent his voice to the musicals he has been part of and released a single, “Comfort,” in 2022. To top it all, he is also a fashion magnet and is the first global menswear ambassador for the luxury fashion house Fendi.
