The New Ferretti Yachts 720 Is a Fresh Take on the Popular 74-Footer
Ferretti Yachts has ended the year with a bang—or splash, rather.
The Italian shipyard has launched the first redesigned 720, marking another step in the evolution of the popular model. The new 74-footer retains the core elements of the previous generation that debuted at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival, but also features fresh aesthetic details and technical enhancements.
Designed in collaboration with architect Filippo Salvetti, the reimagined exterior showcases a redefined profile with even more extensive glazing, a new hardtop for increased shelter, and a redesigned gunwale that fosters a connection between the interior and exterior. As for the interiors, Ideaeitalia focused on improving onboard comfort, optimizing space, and increasing storage. The Italian studio incorporated materials that are warm and comfy yet elegant and refined, along with a bright, modern palette with colors that evoke the sea.

At the heart of the vessel lies an inviting lounge with two large sofas. The space can be accessed via a hinged door on the port side or two sliding doors on the starboard side, creating flow from indoors to out. The main deck is also equipped with a new sliding glass door and an electronic hi-low window that separates the dining and living area from the galley and wheelhouse. Ferretti says this important innovation creates a semi-enclosed environment, giving seafarers more privacy than before. The wheelhouse has been updated, too, gaining Ferretti’s distinctive sweeping windscreen with no central pillar.

Moving to the lower deck, the revised layout includes four cabins: an owner’s suite, a VIP, and two twins. The owner’s suite features a desk, sofa, walk-in wardrobe, and yet another sliding door that opens to a private bathroom. The double crew cabin, meanwhile, can be accessed directly from the cockpit for greater privacy.

In terms of grunt, the inaugural unit is equipped with a pair of MAN V-12 engines capable of churning out 1,400 hp. The yacht has a top speed of 32 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots, according to preliminary data. It is also fitted with a Seakeeper NG10 gyroscopic stabilizer to ensure smoothness on the water.
This particular 720 was the first model in the flybridge range to be built at the new Ferretti yard in Ravenna. It is bound for the American market, meaning you could see it on the seas very soon.
