Tom Cruise Is Reportedly Buying a Nautor Swan Sailing Yacht

It looks like Tom Cruise has a marine mission that Nautor Swan has chosen to accept.

The A-lister has commissioned the Finnish yard to build him a 108-foot sailing yacht, as reported by European sailing magazine Yacht. Cruise, who is currently on a global publicity tour for the latest Mission: Impossible film, visited the Nautor Swan facilities in Finland last Wednesday, suggesting the rumors that have been circulating in the marine industry for the past few months are indeed true.

The 62-year-old actor arrived at the local airport in Kronoby on his private jet, as per photos published by Swedish newspaper Österbottens Tidning. He then jumped in a chartered helicopter and flew himself to the Nautor Swan yard in the coastal town of Jakobstad, before returning to the airport about four hours later. As Cruise walked toward his jet, a reporter from Yle (Finland’s national public broadcaster) asked what he thought about his new yacht. “Beautiful!” the leading man replied. According to Yle’s sources, Cruise ordered his sloop from Nautor Swan in February.

Founded by Pekka Koskenkylä in 1966, Nautor Swan has built more than 2,350 sailing yachts over the past five decades. The Swans represent the gold standard of racing yachts, with impressive performance specs and elegant contemporary styling. Cruise has reportedly opted for the Swan 108, the first example of which was delivered in June 2023.

The first Swan 108 was christened “Fancy.”

Labeled a “new generation Maxi Swan” by the yard, the Swan 108 sits between the smaller Swan 98 and the larger Swan 120 in a four-strong lineup. The sleek 108-footer features a carbon-fiber hull, a huge beach club, and a luxurious light-filled interior befitting of a Hollywood legend.

All of that yacht does come at a cost. The first Swan 108, for instance, is currently listed with Nautor Swan for $21.1 million (€18.5 million). Not that Cruise needs to worry about pinching pennies; he has an estimated net worth of $700 million, after all. He has no qualms with splashing out on the finer things, either, such as Coloradan mansions and Cartier watches. He has also been spotted aboard many extravagant charter yachts, so he obviously enjoys the lifestyle.

It is difficult to know exactly when the Swan 108 will be delivered to Cruise, but Nautor Swan currently has six Maxi Swans under construction. For context, it takes an average of three to four years to build a custom superyacht.

Robb Report reached out to Nautor Swan to confirm ownership, but the yard did not immediately respond. That is not exactly surprising, given that yacht makers are typically very tight-lipped to protect the privacy of their clients. We’ll just have to wait until Ethan Hunt takes his Swan 108 for a spin.
