Kathy Hilton’s Internet Price: Her Profession, RHOBH Wage and Actual Property

Kathy Hilton is one of the most famous American socialites and TV personalities, whose massive net worth is connected to her marriage to Richard Hilton — the grandson of Hilton Hotel founder Conrad Hilton.

Kathy married Richard, also known as Rick, in 1979, when she was only 20 years old. They have remained married since and are parents to four children, including socialite Paris Hilton and fashion designer Nicky Hilton. In over four decades of marriage, as of 2024, both Kathy and Richard have individually added millions to their net worth.

Kathy Hilton chartered her own course in fashion business and became a television personality. She has been one of the most famous faces on the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH), which is believed to have made a sizable contribution to her net worth. Interestingly, her half-sisters, actresses Kim and multi-millionaire Kyle Richards, are also part of RHOBH.

But that is not all. Kathy Hilton is a member of the extremely wealthy Hilton family. Her husband, Rick, co-founded the highly successful real estate firm Hilton & Hyland with Jeffrey Hyland.

When Jeffrey passed away in 2022, Rick left the company and stepped down from his role as chairman the same year, leaving the business as well as its sole ownership in the hands of Jeffrey’s widow Lori Hyland. Rick later formed Hilton & Hilton, a new real estate firm with his son Barron Hilton.

On the other hand, Kathy and Rick’s daughters, Paris and Nicky, are themselves multi-millionaires by net worth. They are among the current heirs of Hilton Hotels, which is estimated to have assets worth USD 15 billion as of December 2023. Paris is married to venture capitalist Carter Reum, while Nicky is married to James Rothschild, a member of the famed Rothschild banking family.

In short, Kathy Hilton is incredibly wealthy and influential, owing largely to her own family and the families the Hiltons are connected to where almost everyone is highly successful in their respective careers.

According to celebrity wealth tracker Celebrity Net Worth, Kathy Hilton has a wealth of around USD 350 million as of March 2024. But this is not entirely her own net worth. Multiple reports agree that it is the combined net worth of Hilton and her husband Rick.

Nevertheless, Hilton is by far one of the richest celebrities in the American reality TV world. Her net worth, even if it is combined, is many times more than those of other cast members of RHOBH or most cast members of other reality shows ever aired.

Kathy Hilton has not been a regular cast member of RHOBH, appearing as a guest from 2011 to 2020 and then again in 2024. She joined the cast as a friend of the housewives in seasons 11 and 12 in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Despite not being a regular cast member, reports reveal that Kathy Hilton commanded a high salary.

According to a report by The Sun, her salary may have matched that of Denise Richards — the highest-paid member in RHOBH history — during seasons 9 and 10. The Sun report claimed that Hilton refused to be part of season 12 unless her salary was increased. Accordingly, the report said that she may have earned USD 1 million or more.

Her half-sister, Kyle Richards, to whom Hilton is close, is believed to be currently making USD 270,000 per season. In 2014, she was reportedly paid USD 500,000 per season.

Nevertheless, the net worth of Kathy Hilton is clearly many times more than that of the USD 100 million net worth of Kyle Richards, which she shares with her husband, Mauricio Umansky.

Kathy Hilton: Works on TV other than RHOBH

Kathy Hilton has always been a famous face on TV. She started working as a child artiste in 1970 with the sitcom Nanny and the Professor.

She also appeared in episodes of TV shows such as Family Affair (1971), Bewitched (1971), Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (1974), Happy Days (1977) and The Rockford Files (1978).

Kathy also had uncredited appearances in the television film Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol (1972) and featured film No Deposit, No Return (1976) starring movie icon David Niven.

She took a long break from acting after the film On the Air Live with Captain Midnight (1979) due to her marriage. She eventually made an uncredited return with the film Wishman (1992), but again moved away from the arc lights for another decade.

Starting with The Simple Life (2003–07), Hilton began making a name for herself on reality television. Subsequently, she hosted her own show titled I Want to Be a Hilton (2005), appeared in The Young and the Restless (2008) as well as her daughter’s show, The World According to Paris (2011).

While working on RHOBH, she also appeared on nine episodes of Life with La Toya (2013–14).

From 2020 onwards, Hilton has been increasingly appearing in Paris Hilton’s shows. These include Paris’ documentary film This Is Paris (2020), her cooking reality show Cooking with Paris (2021) and the reality show about Paris and Carter Reum’s wedding, Paris in Love (2021–2022).

There is no concrete information about her earnings from any of her earlier works or her daughter’s shows.

Fashion business of Kathy Hilton

Kathy Hilton became the owner of a gift and antique shop named The Staircase on Sunset Plaza in Los Angeles, California, soon after her marriage to Rick Hilton. It is not clear how much revenue the store earned, but Kathy managed it for close to a decade before making a short return to the world of entertainment.

In 2012, The Hollywood Reporter published a story about Kathy Hilton’s fashion business — the Kathy Hilton Collection.

According to the report, the prices of the dresses in her collection ranged from USD 395 to USD 750 across styles, colours and sizes.

“My inspiration is designing beautiful dresses that look like a million dollars but they don’t break the bank. These dresses are affordable, they’re classic and they’re timeless,” Hilton told the publication.

The report said that Hilton was approached by Mon Chéri in 2011 to design the collection.

The collection was at the time available at prestigious high-end luxury stores Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Harvey Nichols and online as well.

It is not clear how much she earned from the collection, but they likely made quite a lot of money for Hilton given that they sold at iconic stores.

Hilton also appears in brand endorsements, notable of which are Smirnoff and DIRECTV.

Assets owned by Kathy Hilton

With her huge net worth, Kathy Hilton is certainly expected to live a life of utmost luxury. Of course, a look at the real estate she owns gives a glimpse of her lavish lifestyle.

Kathy Hilton bought a property in 1999 with her husband Rick for USD 3.3 million. Located in the Hamptons town of Water Mill, New York, the 12,140 sq-metre property came with a seven-bedroom mansion, which initially served as the primary residence of the family.

The property was later put up for rent during the summers. The rent was reportedly around USD 300,000 to USD 400,000 per month.

According to reports, the Hiltons listed the mansion for sale in February 2024 for an asking price of USD 15 million — five times more than what they paid two decades ago.

That is not the only property the couple has owned in New York. In 2014, they shelled out around USD 2.5 million for an apartment in New York City’s Pierre Hotel.

One of their most famous residences was a mansion in the posh Bel-Air neighbourhood in Los Angeles. This mansion was bought by the couple for USD 9.2 million, at the time of which it looked different. The Hiltons tore down the original mansion that stood on the property when they bought it and erected a new one.

As such, the property’s value understandably went up. This became evident when they listed it for sale in September 2021 for USD 55 million. The asking price was, thus, more than five times what they originally paid before reconstruction.

However, the property was eventually sold in January 2024 for USD 25 million to Zong Qinghou, the billionaire founder of Chinese beverage giant Hangzhou Wahaha Group and one of the richest people in China.

Zong, whose net worth according to Forbes was USD 5.9 billion as of November 2023, passed away on 25 February 2024.
