Making a Difference in LA: An Exclusive Interview With Environmental Engineer, Entrepreneur & Socialite Nazanin Safavi

Nazanin Safavi a self-made entrepreneur and influential Iranian American, she is making waves in the Persian community of Los Angeles, home to the largest Iranian community outside of Iran. She has passion for wanting to keep the environment clean and safe led her to pursue a career as an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer, where she excels in identifying environmental and safety requirements, hazardous waste management, air emissions, storm water compliance, and implementing health assessments. Her goal is to prevent accidents and health issues at workplaces in Los Angeles, as well as any environmental damage caused by negligent practices. 

Currently, Nazanin works closely with many major companies in Los Angeles to create programs to implement detailed safety plans, conduct random safety audits, protecting the health and safety of employees. She also monitors the environment to ensure it is not at risk from hazards and examines that the work undertaken by companies does not cause excessive environmental damage. In her professional life, Nazanin is widely recognized for her unique ability to communicate with people and her ability to convince employees to follow environmental health and safety programs and take their suggestions and concerns seriously. Nazanin’s inspirational story began in Tehran, where she graduated from the University of Tehran in 1999 with a degree in food science & engineering. In the year 2004, she moved to Los Angeles and enrolled in the California state university of Northridge (CSUN) where she successfully graduated with her masters degree in environmental health & safety engineering.

While studying at CSUN, Nazanin set her sights on becoming an expert in the multi-family home market in the Los Angeles area and the San Fernando Valley. To achieve this goal, she successfully passed her California real estate exam and became a part-time realtor. Her passion for helping families purchase their dream homes in California’s real estate market led to her instant success. Nazanin has built a reputation as an expert in the field of luxury homes, known for her ability to help families purchase their dream homes. She works closely with developers to launch new properties and assists foreign and local investors by introducing them to lucrative off-market deals in exclusive neighborhoods such as Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu, and Calabasas. Her dedication to introducing high-end prime luxury real estate has earned her recognition as a trusted top real estate agent specializing in multi-family real estate in prime locations across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.

Lavish Life Magazine is truly impressed by your inspirational story and commitment to achieving success in your life. Can you tell our readers what motivated you to become an engineer? 

My motivation to become an engineer stem from my deep-seated passion for keeping the world, environment clean and safe. From a young age, I was always interested in understanding how things worked and how to make them better. As I grew older, I began to realize that I could make a real difference in the world by becoming an engineer and working to prevent accidents and health issues in the workplace, as well any environmental damage caused by negligent practices. 

As a student, I particularly drawn to the field of environmental health and safety, as it allowed me to combine my love of science and technology with my desire to make a positive impact on the world. I found that by studying engineering, I could gain the skills and knowledge needed to identify and address the environmental and safety risks that companies and organizations face, and work to create a safer and healthier world for all.

Nazanin you are truly an inspiring person , can you tell us what was the key to achieving your success?

Good question, I believe it’s important to have drive and determination to succeed in any field, hard work, never giving up and having passion is the key in everything including making a difference, I believe anyone can achieve their goals and make a real impact on the world if they believe in themselves.

Did you have any challenges when you first moved to Los Angeles in 2004? 

I faced a number of challenges when i first moved to Los Angeles in 2004. As a newcomer to a new country and culture, not knowing the city, I experienced difficulty adjusting to the lifestyle of the United States. I also faced challenges in my professional life, as I tried to establish myself in a new city and country. However my determination, drive and passion made me succeed in my community, I had no choice other than to overcome these challenges and achieve my goals.

What are your dreams and goals? 

My main goal is to work in the field of Environmental Health and Safety, and to prevent accidents and health issues at workplaces in Los Angeles, as well as any environmental damage caused by negligent practices, I also would love to continue my part time career in real estate introducing properties in prime neighborhoods, high-rise complexes, and luxury properties in exclusive gated communities in the Los Angeles County to buyers & investors.

What advice do you give to young entrepreneurs starting in the business world? 

I advise entrepreneurs to follow their passion and pursue a career in an industry that they are truly passionate about. Young entrepreneurs must understand the importance of gaining the necessary skills and knowledge through education and training and finding a mentor who can guide them through the process. Young entrepreneurs must be persistent and not give up easily, to be ready to face challenges and obstacles in their career and to always strive to make a positive impact on their community and the environment. Always be open-minded, to be proactive and to communicate effectively with other people in order to build a network of contacts and support. Additionally, I believe young entrepreneurs to stay up to date with the latest technology and trends in their industry, and to continuously improve and adapt to the changing market.
